Sacramento Chapter
We'd like to thank Christina Rogers and Mike Taveres for all their hard work in co-chairing the Sacramento Chapter before handing off this role. Christina was successful in establishing a student chapter on the CSU Sacramento campus, lending important support to chapter activities and the professional development of students. Carissa Brehm is the new Sacramento Chair. Carissa graduated from California State University, Sacramento, in May of 2009. She is a former member of the executive council of Chi Sigma Sigma, the CSU Sacramento chapter of the counseling honor society Chi Sigma Iota. She says her experiences, including those in Chi Sigma Iota, have prepared her to meet the needs of the CCDA community. Professional growth and support are increasingly important in this economy, she says, and she looks forward to helping this organization adapt and expand to meet the demands of a changing nation.

Recent Sacramento Events
The Sacramento Chapter's September meeting featured an introduction to the Mentor Program that will provide opportunities for professionals and current graduate students to connect and provide support.

Unfortunately, due to poor turnout at the October meeting, the November meeting had to be cancelled. If you would like to help in getting and keeping Sacramento members active, please contact the Chapter Chair, and also be sure to let us know how we can meet your needs for connecting in a way that works for you!

In other recent Sacramento Chapter events: The "CCDA collaborates with Human Resources professionals" on April 5, 2008 was a successful career management workshop for Sacramento local HR professionals. This was the first time SAHRA (Sacramento Area Human Resources Association) provided career services for HR professionals who have been laid off or are in career transition. There were 47 participants. CCDA Board member Maureen White coordinated the partnership with SAHRA since she is also on the SAHRA Board supporting Members In Transition. Overall, the evaluations indicated very positive responses for the keynote on networking, and especially for the support of the Sacramento CCDA career professionals who consulted with HR professionals on resume review and career development. CCDA was represented by:
