Judi Grutter and Rochelle McCready

by Michelle Beese, NCC, CCDA Past-President

One of the greatest honors of being the Past President of CCDA is the privilege of presenting the Robert Swan and Judith Grutter awards at the CCDA Membership Meeting during the International Career Development Conference, this year held in Sacramento at the end of October. CCDA is proud to honor our colleagues for the following awards:

Robert Swan Lifetime Achievement in Career Development Award: Awarded to an individual who has made outstanding contributions to the practice of career development in California over the years. Our recipient this year goes to a true leader in our field, Judith (Judi) Grutter. Judi has been a career development program consultant and trainer for over 35 years, and is currently a principal with G/S Consultants in South Lake Tahoe, California. She received her MS in Counseling from California State University, Los Angeles, and has completed the coursework for her doctorate in Higher Education, Work and Adult Development at UCLA. A National Certified Counselor and Master Career Counselor, Judi developed and for several years coordinated the graduate programs in career counseling at California State University, Northridge. She is still an adjunct faculty member of CSUN, as well as the John F. Kennedy University Graduate School of Management, and she serves on the MBTI qualifying faculties of the Association for Psychological Type and the American Management Association.

Judi consults regularly with business, industry, education, and government on programs and issues related to career selection, satisfaction, and transition. She is a recognized authority on the uses of assessment in career counseling and consulting, and is co-author of the Strong Interest Inventory Interpretive Report, the Strong Interest Inventory Interpretive Guide (in press), the Strong/MBTI Career Report, and Where Do I Go Next? Using Your Strong Results to Manage Your Career. Recently released by Consulting Psychologists Press are a facilitator’s guide and series of workbooks entitled Making It in Today’s Organizations Using the Strong and MBTI. I know many of us have had the invaluable experience of being in one of Judi’s outstanding workshops. Judi is also a past president of the California Career Development Association, and it is truly an honor to have been able to present this prestigious award to a dear friend and colleague. Congratulations again, Judi!
