CCDA Honors 2004 Swan and Grutter
Recipients:
Judi Grutter and Rochelle McCready

One of the greatest honors of being the Past President of CCDA is the
privilege of presenting the Robert Swan and Judith Grutter awards
at the CCDA Membership Meeting during the International Career
Development Conference, this year held in Sacramento at the end
of October. CCDA is proud to honor our colleagues for the following
awards:

Robert Swan Lifetime Achievement in Career
Development Award: Awarded to an individual
who has made outstanding contributions to
the practice of career development in California
over the years. Our recipient this year goes
to a true leader in our field, Judith (Judi)
Grutter. Judi has been a career development
program consultant and trainer for over 35
years, and is currently a principal with G/S
Consultants in South Lake Tahoe, California.
She received her MS in Counseling from California
State University, Los Angeles, and has completed
the coursework for her doctorate in Higher
Education, Work and Adult Development at UCLA.
A National Certified Counselor and Master
Career Counselor, Judi developed and for several
years coordinated the graduate programs in
career counseling at California State University,
Northridge. She is still an adjunct faculty
member of CSUN, as well as the John F. Kennedy
University Graduate School of Management,
and she serves on the MBTI qualifying faculties
of the Association for Psychological Type
and the American Management Association.
Judi consults regularly with business, industry, education, and government
on programs and issues related to career selection, satisfaction, and
transition. She is a recognized authority on the uses of assessment
in career counseling and consulting, and is co-author of the Strong
Interest Inventory Interpretive Report, the Strong Interest
Inventory Interpretive Guide (in press), the Strong/MBTI Career
Report, and Where Do I Go Next? Using Your Strong Results to
Manage Your Career. Recently released by Consulting Psychologists
Press are a facilitators guide and series of workbooks entitled Making
It in Todays Organizations Using the Strong and MBTI. I know
many of us have had the invaluable experience of being in one of Judis
outstanding workshops. Judi is also a past president of the California
Career Development Association, and it is truly an honor to have been
able to present this prestigious award to a dear friend and colleague.

Rochelle McCready is the recipient of the Judith Grutter
Career Development Practitioner of the Year Award, which is awarded
to an individual who has made outstanding contributions to the practice
of career development in California in the last year. I had the pleasure
of being on the CACD Board with Rochelle during my presidency, and
know from first-hand experience the dedication and commitment Rochelle
offers to the field of career development. Rochelle holds her masters
degree from California State University, Northridge, is a Global Career
Development Facilitator, and is Registry Eligible with more than fifteen
years experience helping adults determine and reach their career goals.
She has counseled re-entry students at California State University
Northridge, facilitated life skills workshops for women in transitional
housing at Haven Hills, led career skills workshops for the unemployed
at the Torrance, Lomita, and Carson One Stop Centers, and school-to-career
programs for high school and college-age students. She has designed
and delivered several career related programs including, Awakening
Your Spirit and Passion for the Learning Tree University. In addition,
Rochelle has worked as an outplacement consultant and has extensive
experience in training and development in the corporate environment.
She has a private career counseling and coaching practice in West Hills
where she works with adults in career and job transition to help them
repackage their potential. It is indeed an honor to call Rochelle a
friend and colleague! Congratulations for a well-deserved reward Rochelle!
