Cummings Wins Outstanding Career Practitioner
Award
Janet Cummings, a private practice career consultant in Southern California,
earned an Outstanding Career Practitioner Award at the June 2003 National
Career Development Association conference. This award is designed to
recognize practicing career counselors, consultants, or teachers for
outstanding performance in day-to-day service for people. Cummings
is owner and principal consultant of Career Management Strategies.
For the past 25 years, she has worked within a variety of business,
government, educational and community environments. She has developed
mentor, leadership, and career transition projects that have affected
thousands of people. More recently, she has been involved in the start-up
of the California Coalition for Counselor Licensure.
Jackson Wins Merit Award
Gregory Jackson, associate professor and coordinator of graduate programs
in career education and counseling at California State University at
Northridge, was awarded a Merit Award at the June 2003 National Career
Development Association conference. The award is designed to recognize
professionals who have made significant contributions to the field
of career development. Dr. Jackson has demonstrated initiative, leadership
and diplomacy in both his state division and state association. He
utilizes innovative practices such as website development in instruction
and works closely with faculty to enhance coursework in career education
and career counseling. He chartered the only student professional chapter
in CCDA. Dr. Jackson is immediate past-president of CCDA and a leader
in the licensure movement.
