The SEIU UHW-West & Joint Employer Education Fund, a Labor-Management Fund organized to provide educational and training opportunities for healthcare workers, has a position available for an Assistant Director. This is a full-time, exempt supervisory position located in the Los Angeles office.
The Assistant Director oversees the day to day activities of the Southern California counseling team, as well as the development, implementation and oversight of education and training programs for incumbent healthcare workers. The position is responsible for ensuring that counseling services, workshops, classes and training programs are offered across multiple locations throughout our service areas and that they are of high quality and consistent in their approach and outcomes. The person in this position may work with managers and staff, employers, union representatives, and educational vendors to develop classes and training programs and coordinates the implementation of classes and workshops to ensure goals are met and services meet the needs of both employers and employees. This position further ensures compliance with grant or contract requirements and recommends changes needed to ensure services are accessible and relevant. The person in this position assists in the development of budgets, and authorizes and monitors program expenditures.
The Assistant Director is a member of the Senior Staff, taking a leadership role in the business of the Ed Fund and in staff meetings. The person in this position represents the organization in meetings with employers, unions, colleges, foundations, government and workforce development agencies. This position supervises a diverse team of program staff, assessing staff training needs and ensuring that skills are current and adequate to meet the needs of employees/students.

| Required Skills: |
• 5 years experience developing and implementing career counseling, educational or workforce development programs
• Significant supervisory experience leading staff to high performance and achievement of program goals
• Mature and level-headed, good judgment and tact.
• Must be committed to working within a labor/management environment.
• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Sensitivity to a multicultural workplace and outside constituency.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Must have a valid California Driver’s License, the use of a vehicle, and maintain an appropriate level of car insurance.
• Experience within a union and/or healthcare environment preferred |
| Required Education: |
• Bachelor’s degree or higher
• Advanced degree in education, career counseling, related fields and/or a clinical license (LVN, RN, etc.)is preferred |
| Salary: |
Low $80K plus generous benefit package |
